NASA James Webb Space Telescope: Testing in Space Environment Simulator

Several critical items related to NASA's next-generation James Webb Space Telescope currently are being tested in the thermal vacuum test chamber at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md.

Commander Chris Hadfield made it into orbit today - 4 hours in the Soyuz simulator, wearing the Sokhol pressure suit.

After 3 months back in the Soyuz simulator with my crew mates it feels like home.

The F-35 Lightning II Full Mission Simulator (FMS) system includes a high-fidelity 360-degree visual display system and a reconfigurable cockpit that can simulate all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II for U.S. and international partner services – the conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) F-35A, the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B, and the F-35C carrier variant.

After some SCUBA diving, move on to a shuttle mission and choose one of two tracks: pilot or mission specialist.

"You will rotate through the orbiter, space station and mission control on training missions which lead up to an extended duration mission," the Center promises. "You will also receive training in our high performance jet simulators and our 3G centrifuge.
